Between Light and Shadow

Between Light and Shadow is an experimental editorial project developed in collaboration with ARIA, an association dedicated to mental health rehabilitation and social inclusion.

Originally conceived as two complementary components, Between Light and Shadow explores artistic photography, while Between Light and Mind focuses on experimental typography. Together, they explore the complexity of mental health and experiences that often remain unseen. Through layered compositions, translucent materials, and unconventional page structures, the publication establishes a dialogue between what is revealed and what remains hidden.

One publication brings together artistic photography in Between Light and Shadow and experimental typography in Between Light and Mind. The photography component has 16 original pages; the typography component has 20. Translucent inserts and a rigid divider connect the two components.

Designed to be explored rather than simply read, the publication uses overlapping pages, transparency, and unexpected reading sequences to reflect the layered and often invisible nature of mental health.

The collaboration also extended into a screen-printed tote bag, featuring a message of awareness and inclusion. The design was selected by ARIA from the proposals developed for the project and subsequently produced for the association.
