The Path of Water

Lagos, Portugal

The Path of Water is an urban design project developed for the historic centre of Lagos, Portugal, proposing the revitalization of Rua da Porta de Portugal and Praça Gil Eanes.

Inspired by the city's relationship with the sea, the proposal introduces water as a connecting element throughout the public space. Flowing forms, shaded areas, and new places to gather aim to transform a busy pedestrian route into a more welcoming environment, encouraging people not only to move through the city, but to stay and experience it.

The intervention brings together ground-level water features, modular seating, shaded structures, and a redesigned pavement inspired by the city's maritime heritage.

Each element contributes to a continuous spatial experience, balancing movement, comfort, and opportunities for social interaction while establishing a renewed connection with the identity of Lagos.
